DESCRIPTION:Stone & Sky: Count Yorgi\nSaturday\, July 15\, 2017 @ 6:00 pm – 7:15 pm\n$12.50 \nThe 5th annual Stone & Sky Music & Arts Series is a growing & eclectic series of concerts and other artistic events containing spoken word\, live performance\, & visual arts.  It takes place over 7 weekends in July and August in a disused\, fossilized\, limestone quarry & rehabilitated former landfill on Pelee Island.  This gem of a venue boasts remarkable acoustics and flourishes with indigenous and endangered species of plants and animals\, some of which are native only to Pelee Island in all of Canada.  Primarily promoting local professional artists\, we are proud to present Raging Asian Women (RAW) Taiko Drummers\, Count Yorgi\, The Scarab Club\, Karloff & Manzerolle\, & Windsor Classic Chorale as our musical performers this year.  All artists (approximately 65) participate in week long residencies that culminate with the delivery of weekend workshops at no cost.  Our finalé performance\, Alchemy\, is composed by Mike Stone and directed by Alix Sideris\, renowned for her work with the National Arts Centre.  Featuring choreographer Anh Nguyen\, this work examining Canada’s 150th is developed with established\, emergent\, and community artists\, & comprises collaborations of voice\, text\, music\, and movement featuring the Stone & Sky Artists Ensemble.  Stone & Sky is recognized by Heritage Canada and The Ontario Arts Council.  Doors open at 5:30\, performances end in time to catch the last ferry to the mainland! \nSaturday\, July 15\, 2017\, 6:00 pm \nWord: Gustave Morin manipulates visual grammar. \nMusic: Count Yorgi consists of a stand up bass\, trombone\, guitar and drums\, though not in that order. They play a style of cosmic jazz that is always pleasing to discerning audiences. As the threads of her relationships unravel she struggles to find a place to start again. Joey has written more plays than he can keep track off and is fascinated by the amazing things people can do. \nApr 28\, 29\, 30 Fermata by Cassidy Anne Hicks\nPresented by The Purple Theatre Company with Opia Theatre Collective\nWhen Clara loses her ability to play the piano to a mysterious neurological condition\, she and her partner Tim struggle to re-evaluate their relationship to their music and each other in a suddenly silent environment. Cassidy Anne Hicks is a Canadian feminist actor and playwright and is a member of The Women’s Room (Pat the Dog)\, and seeks to create cross-media\, inclusive theatre that fills the gaps she sees in contemporary performance. \nMay 19\, 20\, 21 The Bolt House by Lydia Friesen\nPresented by the Purple Theatre Company with Windsor Feminist Theatre (this is also a part of MayWorks Windsor 2017 Labour & Arts Festival)\nThe Bolt House begins with Marley beginning at a new job\, whose quirks leave her dumbfounded. Will she find a way for Patrick to retain his independence\, or will she have to give up her individual goals to make sure he is taken care of? Brittni Brinn is a graduate from UWindsor’s Master’s of Creative Writing program. DESCRIPTION:On March 30\, 2015\, Bradley Barton was acquitted for the murder of Cindy Gladue\, an Aboriginal Canadian woman.  \nUnfortunately\, this is but one in a long line of atrocities that include murders by Robert Picton\, the serial killer from Vancouver.  After this shocking acquittal\, WFT contacted Muriel Stanley Venne\, Chair of the Aboriginal Commission on Human Rights & Justice and President of the Institute for the Advancement of Aboriginal Women\, to offer any assistance our organization could provide in response to the clear lack of support for murdered and missing Indigenous women in Canada. In response\, she offered her presentation to the UN rapporteur James Anaya for consideration as a play. Having in our possession this very moving report\, we commissioned an equally compassionate and sensitive playwright in the person of Joey Ouellette. BIG GREEN SKY is the product of this very human reaching out\, woman to woman\, in hopes of social change.

DESCRIPTION:On March 30\, 2015\, Bradley Barton was acquitted for the murder of Cindy Gladue\, an Aboriginal Canadian woman.  \nUnfortunately\, this is but one in a long line of atrocities that include murders by Robert Picton\, the serial killer from Vancouver.  After this shocking acquittal\, WFT contacted Muriel Stanley Venne\, Chair of the Aboriginal Commission on Human Rights & Justice and President of the Institute for the Advancement of Aboriginal Women\, to offer any assistance our organization could provide in response to the clear lack of support for murdered and missing Indigenous women in Canada. In response\, she offered her presentation to the UN rapporteur James Anaya for consideration as a play. Having in our possession this very moving report\, we commissioned an equally compassionate and sensitive playwright in the person of Joey Ouellette. BIG GREEN SKY is the product of this very human reaching out\, woman to woman\, in hopes of social change.
