Trapped in a room to cure her “hysteria” a young wife and mother is encouraged to rest and not participate in any mentally stimulating activities. But when there is no one to talk to, save herself, she begins to see a woman creeping in the wallpaper in her room and spirals into madness.

The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman is a classic and thrilling short story published in 1892 that follows the harrowing story of a woman given “rest cure” to treat her hysteria.

Windsor Feminist Theatre’s stage adaptation will explore the same themes from the original story, bringing them to a new audience.

There will be a Q&A session after the play where we will discuss the short story, history, and current implications.
