WFT Big Green Sky Poster March 24-16

On March 30, 2015, Bradley Barton was acquitted for the murder of Cindy Gladue, an Aboriginal Canadian woman.

Unfortunately, this is but one in a long line of atrocities that include murders by Robert Picton, the serial killer from Vancouver.  After this shocking acquittal, WFT contacted Muriel Stanley Venne, Chair of the Aboriginal Commission on Human Rights & Justice and President of the Institute for the Advancement of Aboriginal Women, to offer any assistance our organization could provide in response to the clear lack of support for murdered and missing Indigenous women in Canada. In response, she offered her presentation to the UN rapporteur James Anaya for consideration as a play. Having in our possession this very moving report, we commissioned an equally compassionate and sensitive playwright in the person of Joey Ouellette. BIG GREEN SKY is the product of this very human reaching out, woman to woman, in hopes of social change.

Big Green Sky will also be part of the Windsor-Walkerville Fringe Festival. Performances will be held at the Garage Door Theatre (1519 Wyandotte St. E.) on the following dates and times:

  • Saturday, May 7 at 12:00 pm
  • Sunday, May 8 at 7:00 pm
